Q:Before deciding to seek help from AAS, what was your biggest challenge?
在決定尋找 AAS 幫助之前,你遇到最大嘅困難係是?

Before approaching AAS, my biggest struggle was not knowing whether my grades were good enough for university. I had no idea which universities I could realistically get into, and I was also quite worried about the interview process. On top of that, I didn’t really understand how the whole application system worked, such as not knowing where to look for information, who to contact, when applications closed, or even when the university would start. I was also considering taking a gap year or continuing my studies, which made the decision-making process even more overwhelming.

Q:Throughout the whole process, in which area did your AAS consultant help you the most?
顧問在哪一方面幫助最多?

AAS gives great advice that points me to the direction I need to explore quickly and effectively. I originally had no idea where to begin with university applications, but within just three days of consulting AAS, they connected me with university advisors and even helped me discover that I was eligible for scholarships. It turned out to be the very last day of applications, and thanks to their guidance, I managed to secure a place in my first-choice course and university, alongside a first-year accommodation scholarship.

I also needed to take the IELTS because of my residency status and the English requirement for my programme. Steve, my IELTS teacher, gave me very practical and effective tips, and even with a short timeframe of just two months due to meeting the deadline of the application, I was able to achieve an overall score of 7.5 on my first attempt.

Q:The application process is a long journey. Did you experience any moments of anxiety along the way?
申請過程好長,中間有無試過好焦慮?

Yes, the application process was definitely stressful at the beginning because there were so many different components, and I wasn’t sure where to start. However, with AAS supporting me throughout the process, everything became much more manageable. There were times when the university advisors weren’t very responsive or helpful, which added to the stress, but the AAS team always stepped in and made sure we got the answers we needed by the end of the day. Their constant updates and follow-ups really helped put my mind at ease throughout the whole process.

Q:Aside from university applications, did AAS help lighten your load with other arrangements?
除申請學校,AAS 喺其他安排(如 Visa、住宿、機票等)有無幫輕你嘅負擔?

Yes, definitely. AAS offers a really comprehensive and wide range of supporting services. They kept me updated about term dates and semester schedules, made sure I was properly enrolled in the course I wanted, and consistently followed up on my progress and whether my support systems were in place. Whenever I felt I was falling behind, especially academically, I could simply send them an email, and they would come back with multiple options to help me catch up and get back on track. What originally felt complicated became so much easier with their guidance.
May, my agent, is incredibly friendly, approachable, and easy to talk to. She understands my struggles and always knows how to say, so she naturally became the first person I go to whenever I needed help. Her support made the difficult moments so much easier to navigate through.

Q:Words of Advice for Future Students
對於想去海外升學的師弟妹,你有何建議?

If you’re planning to study abroad, the most important thing is to stay open-minded and be willing to try new things. Whenever you catch yourself thinking, “There’s no way I can do that,” that’s exactly when you should sign up and give it a try, and you’ll be surprised by what you’re actually capable of once you take that first step.
If you want to improve your English, don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and talk to locals. People are much friendlier and less judgmental than you might expect, and no one is going to criticise you for learning. We’re all improving every day, so don’t feel ashamed of your weaknesses. Starting late is always better than never starting at all.
Studying overseas is a journey of growth. Be brave, stay curious, and you’ll discover a version of yourself you didn’t know existed.
